Won't Feel a Thing by phantomeus Won't Feel a Thing by phantomeus
Doctor Horrible from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog.

So, this drawing is entirely for *AC-unit. She's been bugging me to watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog for quite awhile now, and I did recently... and loved it. To death. Heck, the fact that I'm actually doing fanart should tell you how much I love it. I also drew this with her in mind because she gave me my current subscription. Srsly, she's awesome. Go check her out.

:iconac-unit:.

Doctor Horrible (c) to Joss Whedon.
Artwork (c) to me.

I love that thing so much. The whole thing is awesome. I love that the protagonist is a super villian. And the songs are so great, although I favor "On the Rise" myself.

Holy crap, that's my dead straight favorite song too. Though 'Everything You Ever' is pretty close. But it's not as fun to sing to yourself in the shower. And I know! I absolutely love everything about that musical.

And thank you!

OMGOMGOMG!

I saw this in my inbox and immediately I knew you had to have watched and loved it!

(Every time I attempt to do Dr. Horrible fanart it turns out miserable)

This. Captures the feel of that moment.

:iconimhappyplz: THAT IS AMAZING!

But do you see the deepness?

And the last line, spoken from Billy "a thing", does that mean it didn't even happen?! (I'm guessing it did, since they are making a sequel...)
BUT STILL. There is deepness that movies wish they could have there.

Also, did you notice that one of the villains in the Evil League of Evil is "Dead Bowie". I actually once felt like looking up all the villains. Weird. And interesting.

Yeeees. That's the whole reason I used that line for this piece! And why I watched it seven or eight or whatever times over. If it were just for the hilarity, I probably would have watched it once, loved it, watched it again eventually. If it were just for the hilarity AND awesome music, I might have watched it twice in a row and have it become one of my favorites- maybe force my uncle to watch it with me. But because of that amazing gorgeous, heartbreaking ending, I watched it as many times as I did and I think had a total of seven people watch it with me. I loved it THAT much. Thank you so much for introducing me to it.

The last line is definitely my favorite, and that's saying a lot with how many other lines I love (Like "The hammer is my penis." and "Anarchy... that I run."). I think Joss Whedon (speaking of which, if you told me Joss Whedon directed it, I would have stopped everything and watched it that moment. Screw schoolwork.) really accomplished something big, with the way the last two words are sung acapella and Doctor Horrible's expression and EVERYTHING. I think he accomplished capturing a raw human moment that we're not SUPPOSED to understand, but that we're supposed to relate to.

But we can guess. Honestly, I do think the whole thing happened. Just the way he said it, I first assumed that he was talking about ending ...everything. Ending the pain and emotion and his life. But as there's a second one eventually coming out, I think that it's more of ending his emotions- they died with Penny, and that's the last human moment we'll see from him. And what a pure, heartwrenching human moment it was.

AND YES I DID. My uncle, who watched about six of the times that I did, and I were like 'who the freak was that guy?' when it showed Moist in the guy's room with pink boxing gloves. So we watched the credits and saw the Pink Pummeler and were like, "Oooooh!" Which is also when we saw Dead Bowie, and went back to watch it... and seriously, the person looks just like David Bowie from his Ziggy Stardust phase, just slightly more feminine and dead. Also, I'm still amused by the fact that Bad Horse is and actual horse.

OMG YES. That is what my first response to your response is. I think Joss Whedon's brother plays Dead Bowie (lol) and him and his brother are in the Bad Horse Chorus.

I also like the beginning of the end song "Here lies everything, the world I wanted at my feet. My victory's complete, so hail to the king," and it's so melancholy and true to life. Sometimes in pursuit of something grand, something else equal, or more important is effected to no repair. The Pink Pummeler, LOL! I love the Evil League of Evil. "Fury Laika" is one of the females, playing of the term "Fury like a woman." I just laughed when I found that out. I bought the Acts on iTunes, but now I wish I bought on dvd. Because they commentary- IN MUSICAL FORM.

But, the plus side of buying on iTunes is that I watch it anywhere on my iPod. And I bought the songs too. Because they are great for drawing to. I love the end credit's strings part.

The one thing that tells me that I LOVE a musical, and I mean LOVE, is not being able to choose a favorite song. Heck. I can't even choose a favorite Act. I love the classic Freeze Ray, but then, I also love A Man's Gotta Do, but then I also love My Eyes, but then I also love Brand New Day, and then... The last three songs of the play. I just can't decide! (I love the double entendre's of Captain Hammer's song, it's hilarious and witty.) I feel like I'm spewing out nonsense. So I'll stop now.

Haha, I knew that they did the Bad Horse chorus, but not that one of them was Dead Bowie. That's hirarious.

And I know EXACTLY what you mean about LOVING a musical. If I were held at gunpoint I'd probably choose My Eyes. Or On the Rise or whatever it's called... but there is not a single song that I dislike in that whole thing. NOT A SINGLE ONE. Which is susrprising for me. I'm really open and loving for most songs, but to not have any I dislike is amazing. And I want to hear the musical commentary! Aaaaand I'm buying the songs right now on itunes and falling in love all over again. It amuses me that they have 'balls.' at the end of A Man's Gotta Do.

Hey, have you ever seen Firefly?

No! I've been told many good things about Firefly and that Nathan Frillion (spelling?)(Captain Hammer) is in it. He's also in a TV show currently playing called Castle, which I love.

I think if I was held at gunpoint, I would say Everything You Ever, just because it just... is so there emotionally. Although, I really like Slipping too. I LOVE THE "BALLS" AND "THE HAMMER IS MY PENIS"

"the hammer is my penis" is delivered so perfectly by him!

omifreakinggosh. So, that's why it was kind of hard for me to see Captain Hammer. As Captain Mal (his role in Firefly) he is kind of a cocky jerk like Captain Hammer, but he's just so GOOD that it's hard to see him as a douche! Kind of the same way he is as Castle.

Pretty much, I'm telling you that you have to go watch it RIGHT NOW. It's my favorite Joss Whedon work EVER. You will cry because it's only fourteen episodes, because Fox network destroyed it. (They did things like played the second episode first, so everyone was all like WTF, and then they changed the time it was shown at without publicizing it, etc.) But those are still the most amazing episodes ever. You'll love it.

And aw crap... I love Everything You Ever too. I'd probably hesitate or change my mind frequently if held at gunpoint and get shot. It would be a worthwhile death. I and my uncle watched it two more times today.

And yes. Yes it is. That may be one of my favorite single lines. The hammer is my penis.
